CHESAPEAKE BAY TANDEM RALLY

May 7-10, 2009

Santana’s May 2009 tandem rally on the Chesapeake Bay will celebrate the arrival of short-sleeve weather with four days of invigorating rides along tidal inlets, meandering creeks and forested shores. For our long-awaited return to the Chesapeake (where Santana hosted sold out events in 1998 and 2002), we’ve upgraded to the New Hyatt Regency on the bay’s unspoiled Eastern Shore. After four glorious days of tandeming and three luxurious nights, we’ll conclude our event with a festive Mother’s Day Brunch.

While Santana rallies have become synonymous with resort-class accommodations, the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay is clearly a cut above. Located in tiny Cambridge, Maryland (population 11,000) on the tranquil Delmarva Peninsula, most vacationers seek out the Hyatt’s new flagship resort to enjoy their spa, beach, marina, tennis or golf. We’ve got an even better excuse—4 days of spring cycling on a network of lightly traveled back roads in an alluring realm that’s flatter (and far more scenic) than Holland.

At $889 per person our resort-class rally includes a 4-day resort stay at the Chesapeake Bay’s finest spa/resort, a daily choice of expertly-designed routes, endless regional cuisine (all meals except on the two open evenings), chartered river cruise, historical interpretation, ferry crossing, mechanical assistance, admissions, photographer and more. Like all Santana events, the best part is certain to be the new friends you’ll make; healthy fun-loving couples that enjoy shared adventure.

Easy to get to, the Chesapeake Bay Hyatt is a short drive from Baltimore Washington International—the convenient Southwest Airlines hub famous for its low fares. We’ll send tips on flying with your tandem (easier than you think) plus a discounted freight-rate if your tandem is afraid to fly. Even though a sell-out is projected, here’s an early bird bonus. Santana’s block of rooms includes a limited number of “Waterview Kings.” These upscale rooms with a gorgeous view and private balcony are a perfect place to relax while enjoying a Chesapeake sunset. Normally $359 per night, while supplies last you can upgrade into one of these exceptional rooms for only $75 per couple!
